Does anyone else's gauge pod rattle like crazy under idle? The painted plastic between the actual readout and the headlight are especially bad. It sometimes seems as loud as the engine itself.

I am a bit jumpy since I am on my second engine in less than 20 hours of riding.

I think they all rattle. I took the top of the pod off and laid in some thin self adhering weather stripping. No more rattle for me.

Great idea, after my warranty goes out I will do that.

What I figured and I had already pondered on a similar way to remedy the problem. Thanks for the reply.

Yea mine rattles really bad. You can hear it over the engine while you ride.
I need to take it apart and isolate it with something like the weather stripping or something.

Mine did it too, for the time being I took some duct tape and taped the ends together to make it 'double sided' tape. Stuck it between the gauge pod and the top plastic cover. Works for now, but I'm going to go buy some foam weatherstripping and stick it around the headlight and the guage pod to make it a tight fit.

Man when I first heard that rattling it made me so mad! At least it's an easy fix...

can anyone post a picture of what they did?

Pop out the pushpins that hold the top (colored plastic) part over the light pod. Leave the black part.

On the black part (the part that goes "behind" the colored part when it is sat over it) .. you will see... you can put about 5 short pieces of electrical black tape ontop of each other to act as an isolator. Also there are 2.. possibly 4 I cant remember.. little tab like things that keep the colored part from rubbing the screen. Do the same there.
That stopped my rattle 100%
Just look and you will see the areas that make contact that im talking about.

I used the weatherstripping for truck campers in my pod. Just put strips about 3" long in the spots it rattles (if you have rode alot with it you should see rub marks for this) and keep doing it until all the rattling is gone. I also put some in my glove box to keep small things from rattling there also.

I just got mine back from the shop, first check up, and now my plastic on my display rattles like crazy. Why would this be? Did they take it appart or something? It never rattled like it does now. I just hope I can find some of this weather strip stuff before all the stores put it away for the summer!
