Gas-locked Foreman?

2917 Views 6 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Honda Mechanic
Came home from riding last night. Remembered to take the golf tee out of the drain plug on the carb. Got home, tried to start it. Its hydrolocked. I know its fuel in there but how? I took the golf tee out of the drain before i loaded up to come home.

Does this mean I need a carb rebuild?

Possibly, all I know is it sucked. Robb knows all about that though.
Doing good now though? You still riding tomorrow? I would have to agree with truegrit, probably just dumb luck.
After you pull the plug out of the bottom of the airbox to drain the gas that's probably in there & pull the spark plug to turn the motor over to clear out the cylinder .. Don't forget to change your oil & filter ...Oh yes ... and re-oil the air filter ..
Oh yea im still ridin tomorrow for sure. Rain or shine with me ...About the gas in the air box, it never made it into it. It just somehow locked up the piston with fuel (this is the 2nd time this had happened) but I take the golf tee out of the drain everytime since the 1st time and it still happened.

Also i checked the oil and it is still all oil, plus was still at the correct oil level. So no need for the oil change.
Was it parked with the front downhill..?.. The fuel should have ran into the airbox before the engine.. The intake valve side of the ventura is smaller (higher) than the airbox side ...
