Fuel running out overflow

What are some causes for the gas running out the overflow tube?Only happened once,The bike started running rough and gas was pouring out the overflow,my buddy shut the engine off and then shut the gas off.He then called me and when I got there I turned the gas back on and nothing was running out,so I started the engine and everything was fine. So far it's been driven about an hour and it hasn't happened again.

Usually if gas is coming out the overflow your float is stuck.

yea i would take the carb out and clean it real good but im with marcust the float was prob stuck open
