Front main drive axle

Hey first post so lemme hit ya with a question about the front dif and front drive in general I blew up my dif today oh my 2001 Honda foreman/rubicon 500 trx now here is my question would there be newer difs that fit the machine that have optional 4x4 or can I get away with taking out the front main drive axle the connects to the front dif and leave the dif in because the dif isn’t locked up it just slips a lot any advice or help would be appreciated
