The axle seals can be changed with the diff in the frame, it does not have to be removed. To change the pinion seal the diff will have to be remove.
this is the easiest way I found to change the axle seals. first unbolt the lower shock mount and roll the shock up out of the way. unbolt both the upper and lower a-arms at the frame. once they are unbolted just grab the axles and push in and give them a good tug outwards. it may take a few times. Just dont let the assem. hang on the brake lines, tie it up with something. using a screwdriver just pop the old seals out and tap the new one back in. They go in very easily. clean the end of the axle and apply a thin layer of grease around the end before putting back together.
