i have the sane thing with my 04 foreman es. it only does it when it starts to grip and it switches from one wheel to another. im kind of worried about it so it would be great to find out if that is normal or not.

mine does the same when the front tires slip and grab traction especially in rough terrain. Ive never had any trouble except for breaking the top mounting flange on the differential. but that was because the previous owner didnt have the back mount bolt tight enuff. I believe the noise comes from the clutches and spider gears in the diff directing power back and forth to each wheel. When i had the diff apart i didnt see any abnormal wear or broken parts so i assumed the noise to be normal.
