Can someone explain how the clutch system works. Is it centrifugal with plates or what? '08 with manual shift.

I'm wondering, because I use mine for farming and would like to know if it will harm (wear-out faster) if I leave it in gear (1st or 2nd) with the engine running for a minute while I'm off it. This might be done 20 times a day. Or would it be the same as in nuetral with engine running.

Thanks,
Gayle

no it wont hurt it. it has 2 seperate clutches in it. the primary clutch works off of weights and springs in side of a housing. when the engine speed increases the weights spread out and grab the outside of the housing turning it which is attached to a gear which turns another gear that is attached to the secondary clutch that has disk and pressure plates held together by pins and a spring keeps the tention on it this is the adjustable one that uses the screw on the front cover to adjust it.

the only time it will hurt anything is if your idle is set too high and the bike is sitting there twitching or jerking, because the clutch is half engaged
