Hi all,

I’m new to the forum so sorry for any errors, I have a 1998 Honda foreman 450. When the engine heats up and I apply full throttle it sometimes smothers itself only giving me 1/2 power. Sometimes if I let off the throttle it will come back right straight away. Sometimes it completely dies off and cuts out. The engine gets a lot quiter when this happens. It sounds as if something is getting blocked. Some of the time it runs fine even with full throttle when it’s warm.
I have cleaned out the fuel tank, ensured all lines were clear and I checked the carb to ensure no jets were blocked however the problem persists.

Where do I go from here?
Could the exhaust be getting blocked?

Thanks in advance for any help,
Conor

The insides of muffler came loose and every now and then block the system. It's quite common on the older foremans with stock exhaust.

Sounds like it could be the air filter or along those lines , i had made a snorkel and did the same symptoms until I got it right
