ON THE FOREMAN 500 THERE IS A BLACK RUBBERIZED FLAP OVER THE CARB. DOES THAT SERVE A PURPOSE??? I TOOK IT OFF, TIRED OF PULLING IT TO THE SIDE TO GET TO PLUG AND EVERYTHING ELSE. THIS WILL NOT HHURT ANYTHING I WOULDNT THINK...WOULD IT. THE ONLY PURPOSE COULD BE FOR HEAT..NUT IT CANT KEEP THAT MUCH HEAT AWAY FROM ANYTHING. ADVICE PLEASE.

I had mine off, but put it back on do to the heat factor, there was alot of heat coming up through the seat, in the summer I would think it would sheild the heat away from the bottom of your seat and keep it from melting. IMO
Less parts=Less weight, get rid of it!!!

Actually im just kidding. Ive always wondered about that as well on my 450 but im missing most of my parts on my 4 wheeler as it is. As of yet still no seat meltage.

Yeah I got rid of mine. im not to sure why
Believe it or not but they call that rubber flap a "rubber snorkel". Not sure what purpose it serves but I kept mine on just to keep stuff from rubbing.
I think that lasted about a week on mine.
I t may help keep steam from riding up, but its probably to keep splashes down. Mine has been off for a few months. Honda just reffer to it as a Rubber seal. There is another one under the as tank as well.
