fan question

I put a hmf,k&n and jetted. I went riding the other night and it seemed like the fan does not come on near as much as it did with the factory stuff and the engine seems to be getting really hot. Is this a problem or is this normal with these mods?

I hear you cajun. I just got back from riding 2 days and I never heard my fan come on. In the next couple days when I get it cleaned up i'm gonna ride it slow around the house and see if it comes on. We ride trails and do it at a pretty good pace, so I do get qiut a bit of air through the oil cooler.
I have the same mods on the engine as you.
I could be the bike is running a tad bit richer, therefore running a little cooler...I wouldnt worry.
id only start to worry when that little red lite comes on
I put a switch on mine for the fan so I know when its on. I had my fan clog, my bike run hot and that red light never came on. The switch is the best way to go.
thanks guys. I went riding sunday and it seemed to come on pretty regular so i think i should be ok

Not sure what you mean, putting a switch on fan to tell when it is on. Did you mean you put a indicator light? If a switch, what does switch do?
I put a manual switch on my fan so that I can cut it on when i want. All i did was cut the wires on the fan an ran a hot wire and a ground to a switch I mounted on the plastic cover on the light where its real handy. This way if my fan is clogged with mud I will know.
Ohhh, Ok, did you bypass the automatic portion of the fan? In other words, does it still come on with thermostat or just the switch. If just the switch, have you forgot to turn on the fan at any time?
I guess you could say i bypassed it I cut the wires on the fan itsself so the only way the fan will come on is if i cut it on and I have a switch with a light on it so at night you know when its on an in the day when you kill your 4 wheeler you can here it running.
