Today on the trails it would not shift out of 3rd and flashed a dash and then 3 and then a dash etc, did not know what to do so I turned off the key turned it back on and it was fine the rest of the day. It does not always shift when I tell it to and it's starting to bother me. Does anyone else have this problem? It's new with 27 miles and I'm wondering if I should take it in and have it looked at. Anyone's thoughts?

Let's see, the es shifts the gears and the clutch lets you shift gears. Why can't the clutch be the problem? I do know that I have rode S models and when stoped sometimes it wont go into gear right and you have to roll it up or back to get it into gear. I don't know what it is but mine did not do it AS bad today. I don't see why it won't shift up going up hills (not big ones).

If you are down shifting, there is a control feature that does not allow you to shift above a preset speed. This is a safety feature. I am not sure of the specific design set up, but I'm sure someone will be able to comment on that here. I would take it to my dealer if it is new and still within warranty. Also that particular model had 2 recalls. One for the clutch plate and one for tie rod ends. The dealer will repair these at no cost to you. The clutch plate might be your problem.

It's not up shifting right.

I would not have gotten one if the dealer would not have make us a **** of a deal. They had what she wanted, but I wanted the S but figured Honda had their poop together and had the bugs out of the es. I hope a trip to the dealer will fix it.

big_daddy_lightfoot??

It's ok I'm not going to worry about it, when my 20 hours are up I will take it in and have them look at it. It just kinda makes a guy mad that he researched and researched on what to buy, thought he bought the best and now has to deal with stuff like this. It's to early to tell I guess, I love the thing but wish it would shift when I want it to.

Dude you have a foreman and a chevy like mine! COOL!

I'm wondering if the "update" is messing them all up. You say you never had a problem before and now it's not shifting right, it sounds like yours shifts about like mine. Sometimes it don't even make the sound it makes when it tries to shift. It almost smells kinda fishy!

I went on a long ride last night and little problem. It would not shift into 5th a few times but not to much other than that. It was a lot warmer, I'm wondering if this has something to do with it?

Mine has only been there a few times lol. If I wanted to go fast I would have gotten a 450r.

Mine has gotten better with more miles and hours. It still gives me fits but I think it will take a while to get use to it because it has a computer and we all know how they can be. It does get old and I wonder why honda has not gotten it fixed. It might work like they want it to I guess. If you ride it like you should I bet it does work right, but who want's to ride it like they should? I wish I would have gotten a foot shift but it's to late now, I will have to live with it for a few years. I love the thing other than that!
