No special tools needed
Just a Flathead & Phillips is all that is needed.
Its a piece of cake.
just make sure u have a good Phillip's to remove the screws and do not over tighten them. They are easy to strip out.

Very true, I stripped my 450 screws, but replacements can be had at Lowes. If the screws dont want to come out, take a vise grip to them before you strip them out, and you can re use them.
Thank God for Lowes. I am constantly goin' there due to screw ups .

So are u saying that they know u on a first name base
They do me, I don't know if it is because I am always there, or maybe it has something to do with that fact that I know some of the employees
It is Mr. Brooks when i walk through the front door. I can hear them
whisper "I wonder what he broke now" when i come walkin' in.
So how much of a discount do u get for being on the best customer list, Are do they charge u more?
Unfortunately no discount. They probably jack the price up when
i walk in.
i put the 170 jet in i have a k&n filter and the HMF but it feels fine but it loads the carb up bad if you lug it any at all is the jet to big maybe
Wow! That is big. I am thinkin' of putin' a 140 or 150 in ours. Right now
with the Snorkits & the exhaust's i am runnin' the Dynojet 134. It is still
not big enough. I put some black electrical tape over half of the Snorkit
& they run great, so that tells me that i need some bigger jets.

all of the new 500's take the 170, some use the 175 i think

I have the 170, seems fine

maybe your float is getting stuck?
I have the 170 and when we had it on the dyno it was a little rich but the dyno guys didn't have a 168 on hand so we left it.
it runs fine as long as i dont lug it alot you think when i get the intake and exhaust snorkled it will do good or need the 175 jet
170 should do good for you. Most of us on here with the 500s and the intake and exhaust are using the 170 jet with good results.
