Does anyone know why you have to drill the slide lift on the 97 400 kit? I was thinking about getting the kit, but was uneasy about the thought of drilling something, especially in the carb. Is is a very critical job or, just drill it out?
What does the drilling do? Does it give good results? Like, actually do what it says? Sorry for all the questions, just want to make sure I do my homework. Thanks.
Well got the jet kit installed with no problems... but I had to bring the idle mixture screw back to 3 turns out. The kit listed 2.5 turns. Also they sent me the wrong precharger for my K&N.
When I turned the idle jet back out to 3 turns it seemed to be running better and it didn't smell hot anymore. I did end up pinching the choke plunger's plastic seal when I was reinstalling it. Would that maybe cause it to be running a bit rough? It is surging a bit and sometimes stalls.
