Different exhausts

I read a lot of guys really like the HMF exhaust. I am looking for a little more power to spin my 27 Mudlites. I need to keep my machine quiet as I use it for hunting quite a bit. Has anyone tried the Bub big bore silencer found here? http://www.hondapartsworld.com/index.as ... rodID=4475
thanks guys

WOW! THATS EXPENSIVE BUT I LIKE IT SEEMS TO BE A GOOD EXHAUST.
i have never heard of that, but it looks like it is a good pipe. just be careful buing them because sometimes brands like that are a flop, i would check out what warranty it has. HMF offers a exhaust that isnt supost to be too loud and still gives you power. they dont make one for the foreman 500 but they do make one for a rubicon. i sold a person a ehaust off of my 03 rubicon and it was for a foreman 500 and it fit. i would double check about that first if you did buy it because i wouldnt want to tell you wrong. heres the link http://www.hmfengineering.com/index.php ... el=RUBICON

I thought it was a little expensive myself. I would be willing to pay a little more for better performance without the noise though.
Add a clutch kit to it and you will spin them 27's.
i put the hmf qs-1 ecosystem exhaust on my 500 foreman and it is pretty quiet and still get the same power as the hmf pipe... the pipe is worth it.
ya i thinkim goin tot run a hmf qs-1 ecosystem. if i ever deside to buy a pope since i do a lot of wild life i dont want it to loud but i want the power..adam h
Well the QS1 does not give the same power, usually around 3hp. The Utility is supposed to give around 5hp (this is what HMF told me). In my opinion the Utility is just obnoxious; had one on my Ruby and it drove me nuts.
Found this thread in a search. Has anyone seen or heard this system yet?

It looks interesting and I like the fact it is not just a straight thru round perforated core like most other exhausts. With that design it should be quieter for the power it could make.
I have a Mud Slinger for sale if you're interested. Makes really good power and not near as loud as the HMF Utility. However it is still a little to loud to ride around my neighborhood. $195 shipped.....you save over $100. I used pipe for about 15/20min, virtually brand new. Let me know.

Hi Eric,

I very much appreciate your generous offer, but I feel the same way you do about noise and want to try and find something quieter than other systems I have heard. It may not be possible with current products and I may end up building my own system.

I talked earlier with a tech at BUB and will be talking with one of the "higher ups" there next week when they are back in the office. I will keep you posted if I find out more details on the Big Bore.
928GT,

Have you heard anything reguarding that Big Bore exhaust yet? Recent I put some larger tires, rims, and a winch on my bike and noticed the difference in power. I'm looking into a jet kit with exhaust (without the noise if possible) to get it back. Earlier this week I took the bike in for it's first service and a toe adjustment; the guy estimated that I lost about 3-5 horse power and told me a clutch kit wasn't what I wanted.

Thanks,
M

After getting the run around from BUB for the last 3+ weeks it seems they don't really have any interest in supporting ATV products. Their primary focus is obviously Harley exhaust, not that there's anything wrong with that. After the experiance I have gone thru with their tech people and their national sales manager I have come to the conclusion that they really don't deserve our support so I no longer have any interest in their products. And after all the BS I went thru before getting their products I couldn't imagine what it would be like after I bought something from them and needed support.

My advice is to go with the guys that seem to be interested in making products for us ATVers and that are verified to perform. I am ordering an HMF Swamp or Eco series tomorrow (can't quite make up my mind which yet) and give my support to the guys that seem to continue developing great products for our ATVs... and share the same interest we do.

I don't know why you would want a BUB anyway. I looked into the same pipe when I first got my Foreman. I eventually decided that people have HMF and Supertrapp for a reason. Thier reputation speaks for themselves; ya know

...........kinda the same reason we bought HONDA'S.

If you want to spend the money go with the HMF Swampseries, performance without the noise. If you want to buy a Supertrapp, you will get the performance with a little more noise.

Above is not a sales pitch but I will sell you my Supertrapp for $175 shipped; virtually brand new and I could use the money for duck opener trip to N. Dakota.
I put on a penland hmf pipe on my 2006 rubicon. without the quiet core and the spark arrester it is crazy loud. I put both the quiet core and the spark arrester on and it is just a bit louder than the stock pipe. The spark arrester got plugged up when i was mud bogging and it had next to squat for power. So I took it out and all is well again. I recommend it.
I just put a mudslinger on mine and have fought and fought with exh leaks, anybody else have problems getting the pipe to seal properly? It's like ya'll said, slightly louder than the stock, but doesn't seem to be as loud as a hmf.

It arrived as promised today. Looks good so far. There are a few picky things I was unimpressed with. No instructions at all, included allen wrench for endcap was the wrong size and the "HMF Swamp Series" Logo plate is not completely rounded to fit flush on the pipe ( will collect a lot of mud etc under it.), but quality of the pipe itself looks very good.

I am under the gun to get ready for a car show in DC this weekend so probably will not be able to give impressions until next week.
