D1 or D2???? And also a ? on first Valve adjust 2007 Rubicon

Question regarding the D1 and D2. I am confused on which one to use for trail and every day normal use. I usually go in D1, but my buddy who has an 03 says use D2 for everyday trail riding.

Which one is better to use for just cruising and trail riding?

Also I am coming up on the 10hr first valve adjustment, that I am going to do my self. Not worried about it, because it seems fairly easy to do. What should the settings be for the valves? And since there are 4 of them on the Rubicon do I get access to all 4 of them from the access hole?

D1
My maintenance schedule in the manual says first value adjustment and oil change is at 20 hours or 100 miles . So if I am wrong let me know, I need to take mine now because I'm at 10 hours now. Thanks Chris,

I may be wrong though as well, I just thought it was 10 hours for some reason.
valves

I took mine in when I hit the miles, the hours were around 10 when I had them ran. Couldn't tell a difference afterwards, but I know why they need adjusted. On the D1 or D2, I prefer the D2, just because it keeps the rpms down and as a result less engine braking, only preference.

I would say, go with D1. It better for cruising around, i suppose thats what you will be doing on trails...

And about oil change, i would change your oil soon. i went like 30 miles over the thing they said in the manual and my oil was almost pitch black. Good idea to do it now.

But i don't know about the valve adjustments, they have never been adjusted ever since i got my bike.

How would you adjust them.?? Do i have to take it into the dealer.?

Valves

Hi,

I took mine into the dealer and had the valves done along with the oil and such, can't remember the price but it wasn't real bad, and I didn't feel like messing with it at the time. If you do some searching around, it may have been on this web site on how to run the valves, someone had a step by step on how to do it yourself. They want you to run the valves after break in due to the valves seating and breaking in, they just want the clearance checked, I would guess it only changes a few .001's, but some may start to clatter a bit if you don't reset them. Loose valves I would presume means more wear and less air flow.

later,
Called my dealer today about setting up an appointment for my bike. Its $200.00 for the first service. After I picked myself up off the floor, I guess thats what I'll have to pay . It is 20 hours / 100 miles
