Creak/Pop noise in Front End!

Hey guys,I have a 98 foreman with this poping noise in the front when you turn the wheels.I have narrowed it down to the cv joints going into the front diff. You can feel the pop & vibration in the joints if you turn the wheels sitting still & can hear it when you are slightly moving & barely turn the wheel.Any Ideas what this can be? Any help will be appreciated.MOON

Sounds like you narrowed it down to the cv joints. I heard popping noises in the front end of my bike a few months ago and I to narrowed it down to the cv joints. Well I ignored it for the time being, and next, I was buried up in the mud with no way of getting out cause the 4 wheel drive was not working because one of my shafts broke. So I went and bought some gorrilla shafts, trust me on these! They are only about $30 a piece more than the whole Honda shaft, so don't let the $350 price tag scare you. Honda was $323.
I'm checking the joints. It sounds & feels more like the noise is where the joint goes into the diff.Where did you get your axles from just in case?MOON
noise is in front diff.I'm going to service it & see what happens.
Yeah my 98 did the same thing except mine was coming from the knuckle where the bearings inside had been eaten away so i went ahead and got new knuckles with bearing and that fixed my problem
The best I can tell is the limited slip isn't slipping. When I hold one wheel & turn the other I get this noise.I serviced it with synthetic oil & friction additive so we will see what happens. No metal or water in old fluid.
hey man any update? I'm having this same problem now. Just wonder what it is before i spend alot of money.
Maybe pull the Axels and inspect them for damage or play. Also check the front wheel bearings. If you don't find any thing it kinda narrows it down to the differential. You have to pull the axels to remove it any way, so you haven't wasted any time or effort.
I still have the noise. It's not the joints.I am thinking of getting the DGL.I'm trying to find the best price.Good luck with your noise.MOON
I just changed my wheel bearing the other day, So i now know that it's not the wheel bearings. I'm gonna pull mine out this weekend and check the differential and other stuff, If i find the problem I'll update ya.

Any updates on the noise? I have a similar sound on my 98 and I was thinking that its a wheel bearing. Hoping that you boys find the sound before I start replacing parts.
The noise I have is in the frint diff. The clutches are not slipping as they should.I just have not replaced it yet. They will slip when in a hole or bind but when just riding & a slight move of the handlebars they dont release as they should.I serviced it and have driven about 30 miles. It seemed to be quiet at the end of my last ride.I will check again & probably service it again.Moon.
foreman front end noise

I have a 95 foreman 400 and its doing the exact same thing you described with the front end popping and creeking noise where the axle comes into the front gear casing. What ended up being the problem? The thread seemed to have died before I could learn what you finally figured out. Thanks
Thats a 5 year old thread dont think your going to get an answer.
