carb vent problem

1621 Views 7 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  SHEPARD1828
I finally extended my carb vents up to the light pod, but here is the problem I tee'd them into one line and ran it up to the pod. when I went riding and got in to some water about floorboard deep it started spuddering and shut off. My carb drain was not plugged so I thought that may be the problem but when I got home on dry land it was still doing it. So then I thought it was not getting enough air so I split them up into two seperate lines. It is now running a lot better but if i hit the throttle hard or quick there is alot of hesitation before she takes off.

Any Ideas?

I was wondering about this, I hope you guys that have this done reply.
Thata's odd. I tee'd my carb vent lines as well and have not had any problems at all, it runs great. Did you try to drain the carb after your ride? Just a thought, it may have gotten water in and still had some residual water in it.
my lines are done teed also and i never had trouble with it. Sounds like to me that you still have water in the carb, drain it and you should be back to normal.

exactly what i was thinking . should be plenty of air to vent the carb by t-ing the lines. gotta be a wet carb. open it and drain it.
I ran two seperate lines, but like everyone said I think you have to drain carb..........
thanks for the help. I'll have to try that, I just assumed it would drain itself once it was out of the water.
i could be wrong but i think the vent line that u ran first is pinched or kniked and not geting air.
