bypass reverse button

Could I just wire the lever down at the transmisson all the way back,so that you don't have to press down the red button?Would this affect any other gears? When plowing with my Rancher,it's a pain to press the button with gloves on.

It wont affect anything as long as you come to a stop before changing from neutral to reverse
it won't hurt it at all.it's much safer on an ES model because the ecm won't let you shift to neutral or back into gear when over 3 mph or over 3000 rpm.
I would like to have 2 of those. I wish it would show a picture of what it
looks like. Thanks for postin' that.
i'm off to the garage to make one of those today.it's probably a machined u shaped peice that you just fit in the gap when the reverse lever is pulled.i can't see it being more high tech than that.
My little pea brain just can't figure out how it will work. That's why there are
folks like the one who invented that thing & other stuff that make big money
off of folks like me.
my rear brakes do not work any more. Here is how I did my reverse override. I removed the parking brake lock and I used a piece of stainless metal and just bent it to fit.
Dirty, your about as clever as a fox. That's a pretty good idea you have
there.
Honda Mechanic did a post that showed a nut being used. Just pull back the reverse once place the nut in the gap and drive back and forth. Remove the nut and it is back to normal. So simple and it works well.

Very simple design and clever. Worth the price overall and love mine. I use it all the time and backing up is a snap.

I just ordered one of those things! That dang reverse button is so aggravating....ESPECIALLY when I'm holding my beer! I gotta PUT THE BEER DOWN, mash in the button, pull the brake, put it in reverse....the whole while Shane is yelling....BACK UP!!!
I'll be in BUSINESS NOW!
THANKS!

If you are referring to the ebay thing. You will love it. So simple design you will wish you would have thought of it, even though I did not actually look into why the red button made things work. However, so simple, it was worth the price I paid for gadget and life is so much simpler. I used to have to backup, move forward, back up and then go forward again to make a turn with little space and hated it with my Honda. I have the ES shift and is akward to do with pushing in the red button, pull brake and shift using one hand to accomplish. Would have been easier with a foot shift but I bought an ES shifter. I highly recommend the bypass if you want to bypass and easily remove the bypass if wanted and install again in a few seconds.

Yep, I bought it off of Ebay. I'm sure that my husband could have "rigged" up something, but for TEN BUCKS, you may as well just get it off Ebay! Mine is an ES also and I HATE having to do the button and all that so this will be great!

Okay, I got the reverse-thingy and it works GREAT! Just pop it in, it only takes a minute!!! I think it was around 10 bucks shipped, ya can't beat it!

I know this is an older thread, but here is by far the simplest way of bypassing the reverse button. Takes less than 5 minutes to make and can be removed in 5 seconds if you want to.

A wire tie works great. Home depot or hardware store has them. Takes 15 secs to do.
look what i did on my rancher just the other day:

goina make plowing the drive way a little easyer.

Find the reverse cable by the left brake. (it’s right kind of under the brake cable).
A couple of inches back, there's an adjuster. Screw it out one turn at a time until the shifter goes in and out of reverse without using the lockout mechanism. Once you find the exact point, extend the adjuster one more full turn.
This is easly returned to a factory condition by reversing the proceedure.
