I RECENTLY GOT A 01 RUBICON WITH 2600 MILES, 2INCH HIGHLIFTER LIFT KIT, AND 28 INCH OUTLAWS THAT I DID NOT GET WITH THE DEAL. TOOK IT FOR A RIDE BEFORE I SEALED THE DEAL, RAN RICH(POORLY INSTALLED DYNO JET) BUT EVERYTHING ELSE WAS GOOD SHIFTED GREAT EVERYTHING WORKED SO I SEALED THE DEAL. I GOT IT HOME WITH THE STOCK TIRES, TOOK IT TO THE BACKYARD ROCKPILE AND DAMIT I BROKE THE RIGHT FRONT AXLE. HAS ANYONE HAD THIS HAPPEN TO THEM? IS THIS BECAUSE OF THE LIFT BECAUSE THE SUSPENSION WAS AT FULL DROOP WHEN IT BROKE? OR WAS THIS BECAUSE OF THE AMOUNT OF MILES? SHOULD I MAKE LIMITER STRAPS? HAS ANYONE BROKE MORE THAN ONE? I ORDERED 27INCH MUDLITES SO I REALLY WON'T NEED THE LIFT BUT I WOULD LIKE TO LEAVE IT IN.
ORDERED A NEW AXLE FROM HONDA, I KNOW THE PARTS GUYS AT THE DEALER THEY GAVE ME THEIR PRICE 96 BUCKS.

Sounds like the miles with those outlaws took there toll on that axle. And yes the lift probably helped with your prob. Put on the mudlights, slap in the new axle, and ride it.
Outlaws and lift will do it to it. You should be fine with the mudlites. They are a lot easier on the drivetrain. If you are really worried about the front axles get gorillas, 4 times the price but tough as h3ll.
You should be able to fit those outlaws with out lifting the rubicon i got 28 inch mud bugs on mine no rubbing. What are you gonna do with the outlaws?
just gave them away **** i would have bought them.
it's because of the lift, i had 2100 miles on my 2002 rubicon when i lifted it and within 300 miles it broke two stock left axles. so now i have two gorillas and no problems.

hey jason did you get that axle fixed in the other bike did the rubicon axle fit
he just ordered two gorillas on monday and he should get them tomorrow. also, the 29's came in today, so both the rincon's will be out in force this weekend.
Sweet I will be out there, what time are yall going to ride.
all day friday, saturday after 5:00, and sunday after 2:30. -jason
Most likely it was from the milage and hours and the xtra weight of the Outlaws and lift just toke a tole on it,and it broke. With 27 or 28's on Honda's put alot of angle on the inner cv joint, poss at an uneven surface or mud rut it can seperate.I have never had axle problems yet with my lifted 450ES with 28 Zilla's with 1,000 miles.Good luck, they gave you a good price on the axle from Honda.I would of expected alot more $$$.
i got the new axle, kinda dissappointed, it did not include the inner joint, so the job was a mess. the groove for the wire snap ring that holds the shaft into the inner joint in was messed up from the angle of the axles so i also had to get a new snap ring.

the outlaws and lift are down the road, the 26" mud lites are on with itp c- series wheels. awesome!

has anyone with a rubicon ever had some sorta rattle from the engine when the engine is cold, but goes away when it gets warm? its not a lower end or valve train noise because it goes away when you rev the engine. i am going to check all of the exhaust sheilding because thats what the noise sounds like.

I've got a 450 and it does the same thing. It seems to just be waiting for oil to get to the hydralic timing chain tensioner. It hasn't caused any bad effects yet.
The Honda's all mave a small tapping noise when first started, oil going to top end.I actually turn my engine over acouple times with thr bar switch off to buildup oil to top end and then turn on switch and start.I also had for awhile a rattle from the header cover so i tightened the bolts and it was still there, ended up being a small rock in between the shield and header pipe rattling around and making all types of noises.Good luck.

Yet another good idea.
the engine makes that noise for about 20 minutes or so. i used a stethescope to maybe pinpoint the noise, the most noise comes from the top end, but its more of a bottom end noise. a couple of my friends that have ranchers and 450s have had the big end rod bearing go bad but this is not the same noise, their noise didn't go away. another friend bought a rubicon with a hole in both case halves for $300 and sunk $2700 into the engine to make it run again. I DON'T WANT TO BE IN THE SAME SITUATION.
