My bike is the same way, at extreme downward angle, a grinding noise as if it was skipping gears. I noticed it when i took it to a Kawi Dealer for a oil change and a tune up. I believe they used Yamaha oil. the honda oil makes a big difference and make sure there is right amount of oil. Did you change your oil just recenlty with different brand? Might be the culprit.
