I Have a 2001 Honda foreman es It has been backfiring on me when I let off the gas. What could be my problem be. I have checked my spark plug and cleaned my air filter.

Your jetting is probably off. Sounds like its rich, is the sparkplug black?

It could be a lean-misfire ..Check the tip of the air screw for black carbon ..that will cause it .. When this happens it sounds like a gun going off when you let off the throttle ..

It is the same way with mine, I pulled the spark plug out and checked it...Clean as the day I put it in. I have no clue what it is with them.

Try checking all your exhaust connections. If the muffler/pipe joint gets loose, it'll suck in cold air on decell and you'll get a pop.
