Axle parts

Had a torn inner cv boot on my 2000 450, and thanks to the awesome How-2 wright up I manged to get the haft shaft out without braking anything. I got the cv boot replaced and was attempting to put the bike back together when I started braking stuff. I could not get the shaft back into the front diff with the c clip on. I attempted to tap it a little with a hammer and buggered up the thread on the outboard end of the shaft, which leads to my question. I can't seam to find that part of the axle (lower joint Me think) for sell anywhere. I still don't know why the axle will not go into the diff. Are axles on a 400 foreman the same? There seams to be more of those floating around.
Any attempts to save me from my utter lack of mechanical skill will greatly appreciate.

go find a tap that size and re tap the end.
Went die shopping today and sized the threads at 16 mm. No stores carry anything that large locally. I found a web site http://www.tools-plus.com/automotive-th ... tric-.html that list two that are different 16mm-11.50mm and 16mm-2.0mm what is the difference?
how bad are the threads messed up, if not to bad you can use a thead file to clean them up. Here is a link to a metric thread file at sears http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1260 ... hread+file

The last thread is bunched up on the next one. How does that thing work?
eash side has a different number of files to match different thread counts on different sizes of bolts. you align it with the threads of the bolt after you find out which thread count is needed and use just like a file in a back and forward motion. They work very well for cleaning up damaged theads.
