My 06 ehaust gets really hot . Makes the plastic fenders hot when riding. Tell ya how I solved it too. Took the spark arrester out and drilled three nice size holes in the exhaust canister installed the screen back in and walla prolem solved. Doesnt sound any louder either.

I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM CAUSE MY SCREEN INSIDE WAS CORRODED AND IN PIECES SO WHAT I DID WAS JUST TAKE THE WHOLE THING OUT, IT SOUNDS GOOD NOW AND COOL EXHAUST
My 2006 gets RED hot coming out of the cylinder head.Has anyone else noticed this? You can only see it at night, glowing.
you i just noticed it was making the finder hot las weekend on a poker run my dad and i went on.
the carb is running to lean you need to back out the piolet air screw a bit
My idle mixture screw is 3 turns out right now.I've been wondering if valve adjustment could have something to do with red hot exhaust.I know valve adjustment affects valve timing and if the valve timing is late,i.e. loose valves?
to restictive

I think the problem was the muffler is to restrictive and holding back to much pressure.
probably not. its the same muffler we all have and we dont have them problems i bet its runnin lean
if the valves are out it will cause it to run like crap not enought to mess with your timming to much. the mixture screw will be different in everbodys bike beacouse of elevation and thickness and thinness in the air and jetting will have a lot to do with it if you have jetter your bike but if not how to fix this running hot prolbum is to get a flat head screwdriver small enouoght to work then you ajust it counter clockwise 1/4 of a turn and run it like that for a few minits make a few passes in the drive way and when doing that see if you have better throttle responce then park the bike with it running and go to the exhust andsmell for raw fuel for not burring if you can smell a lot of gas then you have it running rich. lean it out a bit if it start to stall then you have it to lean and so on keep repeating till you get a good mixture.
