Ok, Im about ready to LOSE IT!!!

There are numerous of trails here is Utah that are being closed off or gates put up to close for season. The few times Ive ran into the Forest service they seem very ignorant always suggesting this is there land and they can do what every they want.

It pisses me off because its my tax dollars are going to them to close our public land. I have been told its for my safety or there is no need to go up there and every other lame excuse on plant earth.

Listen, this is the United States of America and we as the people should decide if the trail should be closed or gated. we pay for there income, we are there bosses. If there is a legit reason for a closure then lets discuss the issue. But they should not have the right to close a trail just because.

Most of these trails have been open for decades, so there should be know reason to close them unless its for control. "Which i think thats what they are doing."

So my question is. What in the fuss I can I do to stop this from happening.

RubiRanch I'm hoping you will be able to direct me on what to do. Plus you have my dream job at the DNR.

Sorry if this dosent make sense or sounds ridiculous Im writing this all in the moment and haven't really though about what I'm writing. Just pissed off.

Get used to it.. Its cheaper to close them to maintian them and fight all the left wing liberal save the polar bear enviormental lawyers who think we are tearing up the terrian and causing permanent damage to the ecosystem.. Just look at tellico in N.C. Was open for 50 years.. closed because the trout nazi's said were will killing trout by washing silt in the river.. Sued the N.C. forest service. It was cheaper to close the trails than to build bridges over the rivers and maintian the trails... So Americans are the only ones to blame because we think we can fix all the world problems by suing people over something that is eventually going to happen one day... but off my soap box now.. it sucks man, but they will contiune to close year after year...

I keep thinking you Americans have it made with all your cheap parts and quick availability to them but the parts are no good if you cant ride your bike and the trails are all closed down. There's several other americans that have complained about trails closing down. That sucks but I doubt there is anything that can be done.

Move to Canada... Theres more than enough trails and areas to ride.

NH keeps opening more & more trails. The cities here are finally realizing that more trails bring in more people. More people means more dollars for the local businesses and more tax money for the government.

Benji, I too miss Tellico. Man that was one of the best places to ride in the southeast. Jeep and Hummer jamborees, were the best, to follow them around on the fourwheelers. They also closed one down in Georgia, Locust Stake in Toccoa Georgia.

I live in Illinois but I am a member of Treadlightly, BlueRibbon, Cohvco (Colorado). Just 2 weeks ago I returned from Moab and the San Rafael Swell two places that are constantly under attack. Are you a member of any of these groups? If not that would be a place to start you can be kept up on the current legal battles and what areas are being considered for closure. You might look into it. One thing we can all do and I am not implying this is the only reason trails are being closed but while I was in the San Rafael Swell it was clear to see that some people felt it was important to leave the trail and go over small hills leaving there tracks for all to see. This doesn't help the situation. The other thing I can't figure out is why someone would have enough curiosity to go to a beautiful place like this but also feel that it is important to leave their trash behind. I don't get it! I guess I'm just venting too.
