I found this web sight on air filter's. I know most in this are automotive filters but it mentions the UNI and K&N. Might give you and idea how well they work. Just made me wunder more.

If i bring my Colorado in for warranty with a K&N they will not do the work, i thought that was kinda interesting.
Does anyone make a good flowing oil less filter?
So basically what i gathered is the cheap filters seem to work better or
just as good. I've always heard that K&N doesn't filter all that well. I have
Outerwears on ours to help filter out some of that dirt. So basically for
your vehicle, a plain ol' Fram or STP will do just as good as a high
perfromance filter??

i have had K&N filters on all my trucks and have never had a warranty issue at the dealer....granted since it is a chevy i have never had a motor problem either ....i am calling my salesman to get the inside scoop
something about the oil gettin on the mass air sensor and fouling it all up, let me know what you find out.
Sounds like it is something with that new 5 cylinder motor you got.
