why cant your HMF get water in it?

mine has beeen under water more htan it has been above water and it is fine

i like watching it bubble under water...reminds me of farting in the bath tub
something about it destorying the packing in it..they have had several get really loud and then holes burning through the pipe once it gets water inside of it..but i've never seen it happen either..so i;m not sure..i would only add about 17" on it if i do anything..
well all ride ours in the water, an no problems...although I think something happend to travis's on his rubicon - his is LOUD!
The packing does get loud when it is wet, but it wil quiet back down once it dries, except for Travis'. Hi is loud all the time.

If you bump the idle up a notch it will idle underwater w/o any probs and not get wet.

How do you do this and will it help for the stock one?
There is a black knob on the side of the carb next to the primer bulb and drain screw.
Ok does it actually have notches or is it just a screw? I hate being so "green" at this stuff!!!
its a knob not a screw and it has notches on it. That should be the one you are looking at. Hopes this helps

Just to clarify. The knob itself has notches/ridges on it. There is no presets for the knob to engage into. It functions just like your average dimmer knob/switch for a light in your house "infinitly" variable.
