If I let it sit for awhile it will start and run for a few seconds then die. and not crank again. Until it sits a while again.🤬
99 450es Turns over but no spark.
I have a 99 450 ES, it was running great. shut it down. then it wouldnt start. after a while it started ran fine. once my kid brought it home, again it wouldnt start. after a while it started and ran long enough to get it off the trailer and in its spot.
Then it stopped all together. I check the plug, good. Replaced the rectifier, still no start. replaced the coil and still no start.
I decided that my rectifier might have been good so I put the original back on. Bam it started...for about 10 secs then died. and then no start. so I put the new rectifier back on, and again it started for a few second. but then won't start again.
waited about 15 minutes when out and it started for a few second and died. and now it won't start..again
I'm not a mechanic, **** I'm barely a Youtube mechanic, but I have searched and searched and I'm loosing my mind.

As soon as you start it and it quits pull the plug and check for spark. Make sure and do it right away. Don't give it time to sit. If you have spark put the plug back in. Then remove the air filter and squirt a little fuel in the carb and try to start it. If it starts you have a fuel problem. See if it will stay running while you squirt fuel in the carb. If it will then you're either not getting fuel to the carb from the tank or your carb is stopped up inside. Disconnect the fuel line from the carb and see if you have a solid stream of fuel to the carb. If you don't back track it to the tank until you find the blockage. If you have fuel to the carb then you need to look into it.
I will give this a try when I get home. I will say when it does not start I can smell gas, like it is getting flooded. So I dont think it is a fuel issue but i will certainly test this.

I'm going to suggest that you go somewhere like Advance Auto, O'REILLY'S or some other auto parts place and get an inline spark tester. The one that plugs onto the plug and into the plug wire. That way you can see immediately if you've got fire at least to the plug when it quits. You can run it with the tester on there.
I bought one from harbor freight but it doesnt fit the small spark plugs. I can't seem to find one online that says it will fit the smaller ones. Any follow up on this, I took the top off my carb and pumped and I would get fuel but seemed to be somewhat plugged as if not getting solid flow, replaced then starts and it would die. tried pouring gas into the carb and same thing. Replaced cab and still having the issue. Not sure if it being a new carb now may need something adjusted?I bought one from harbor freight but it doesnt fit the small spark plugs.
