dont "upgrade" all youll be doing is downgrading. i dont like my 500 if i had a chance i would go back to my old 450

Why is that? I like the breaks a whole lot better on the 500.
I would have to agree, the brakes are better on the 500, overall feel of the bike is better ( larger bike) , and the 450 I rode was full time 4wd as opposed to being able to select 2wd-4wd. Not to take anything away from the 450, but, if I was choosing between the two I would take the 500. In addition to the Foreman 500, I also own a 400 Foreman and a 500 Rubicon presently and the bike I ride is the Foreman 500, Rubicon rides better but can't keep up in the mud, but the Foreman isn't exactly stock either. Personal preference I guess.
I haven't owned a 450 but I love my 500ES

....I'm sure someone out there would trade you.
Hey

I have a foreman 500 manual shift and love it, My buddy has the 450 and he can't keep up to the 500, I prefer the 500 myself.
But is it worth selling the 450 to upgrade to a 500?./.... i would not.
Just put a warn 4-2-4 select kit in and a jet kit in your 450.,
450 vs 500

well my 450 is not stock its got a pipe jets and filter and clutch kit and lift with 28s . his will have 28s on it to but be stock for now ...guess well see what happens if he gets it ..
450 500

any thoughts how it will compare with the mods i listed above , think they will help any ??
ok been a while but still the 500's suck and i guess im just saying that cause im having problems with my dealer. both of my bikes were in the shop for 4 months or so and they didnt even touch them. The guy that owns thaty dealership needs to die in a car wreck or summin. we bought 5 of these pos's in a week and they wont fix them even though they have warranty. my bike has 500 miles on it and needs a topend rebuild. this is due to the oil pump being in the front of the bike anmd not in the back of the motor where it should be. I starved it of oil doing wheelies. i've got two 06 foremans for sale one with 1000 miles and the other with 500 miles just take opver payments and we'll be good.

They dont suck, you must've got some crappy off brand ones with Honda stickers on them!!! .I love my 500,and I rode with a 450,and I was ahead of it a good bit,but no extreme mud, alot of ruts though, but we also rode through muddy ponds ,and we had great fun,but I wasnt comparing his honda to my honda,I was comparing a Yamaha to my Honda, and mine did better!!!
I love my 500,I'd say go for it!!
the real question is do you have the $$$ for it. if the $$$ doesnt matter to you and you have to be able to beat him then go for it.
First I want to say I was thinking of "upgrading to the 500 myself.I road my buddies new 500 a couple weeks back on trails not mud. I have a 2000 450. I liked the braking on his better but that was it. It wasn't noticeably faster or more responsive. I actually felt way more stable on mine. The only thing i got out of the experience was I couldn't justify the money to myself.
You can pick up a brand new 4x4 500 for $5000. They are not expensive. I love my 500. I wish I could have shown you how much water was in my motor after this past weekend. My bike had 2.5 quarts of oil in it to start and 4 hours later it had at least 3 quarts of milky water/oil. Still runs like a champ and ticks like a clock. I broke a part and missed a few spots when sealing up the case so the leak was my fault.

Nothing runs like a Honda, no matter how fast or big it is.
where can you get a 500 4x4 for $5000??

Got my 2WD Foreman with a warrenty for $2,500. Beat that.

I bought it privately when it was 6 months old. Came with the warrenty. Low hours and in perfect shape.
