Sorry to barrage you guys with what may seem like dumb questions, but you all are experts when it comes to these machines!!

While digging myself out of a mud hole last week in my Foreman, my bro-in-law noticed that my front wheels would alternate spinning, left, right, left, right and so forth. Now, on our buddies Rancher, he would come out of the same mud hole, both front tires spinning...with no problems. I seem to get stuck in mud way more than he does....is this normal for my front wheels to alternate drive????

BTW, in case it matters...it is a '05 Foreman S...selectable 2/4 wheel drive.

Makes sense. My buddy was probably just hitting the hole harder/faster than me and had better traction coming out. I am still in the "*****-foot around" stage of riding. It will grow on me as I progress!!!

one trick that i have used occasionally is when one front is in the air and spinning and the rears are getting no traction, pump the front brake while staying on the throttle and sometimes it will send enough power to the other front to pull you out. last week i had to do exactly that while in the snow.

The Honda traxlok is supposed to send power to the wheel with the most traction. Not sure though, every time I've had mine in 4wd all four turn. I have not done it yet but I've read that the traxlok system works better if you replace one ounce of gear oil with the GM limited slip gear oil.

Hmmm..never heard of that before. I will look into it. I have heard that stuff is made from Whale sperm!!!!

I bought the Honda 80/85 hypoid gear oil for it today, I plan on changing both dif's fluid this week. I have 275 miles on it, through some mud and water. Shall be interesting to see the condition of the lube in it.
