4wd wiring broken

I am troubleshooting the 4wd on my dad's 2003 Foreman S. It appears something got hot and melted wires, or mice got into it. I am having trouble deciphering exactly what I might need, and part of it appears to be part of the main wiring harness. The 2wd/4wd assembly with wire isn't available anywhere I can find. Can I just strip the wores back and splice in samethe same gauge wire and waterproof it?

Oh ya mice got in that. I'd just get some wago wire splices. You don't need the same gauge wire as long as it's close. It's only a 12V system.
Thank you for the suggestion on the wago connector. I was able to strip the wires back where I could find some good copper and a couple wago connectors and it's back in business.
I should have mentioned. I use those connectors for lots of stuff but for outside connections I'll get a tube of silicone and squirt the fill the ports up where the the wires go in.

Sorry drunk here. When you plug the wires in fill that **** with silicone make it watertight.
