I have an 04 450 ES and the fan doesn't work. I grounded the sensor wire to the motor and the fan will come on but blows the fuse everytime. Anyone have an idea what could be the problem? Thanks

theres a short somewhere in the system check all the wires and connections or could be a bad fan control unit
Is there any way to check the control unit? Thanks
not unless you have a friend that has the same atv and you can try there's out
put your fan on a toggle switch, i did and i love it
i agree with old yeller ,that controle unit is $164 bucks ....toggle switch $10 .if mine goes bad someday i know what i will do !
BTW welcome to the forum!!!!!
You may want to also check and make sure you don't have anything obstructing the fan blade movement. Also if the fan or maybe you have a bearing in the fan going out, it could cause it to drag, causing the amp draw of the fan to go up, thus blowing your fuse. If you have a volt ohm meter you could check the fan to see the amp draw.

Just some thoughts,

We have been having the same issue- we have discovered its all in the connectors the box plugs into.
I can't believe all the people that have had the same issue~

Mine was out also. 12 volts to fan to make sure is working. Then I replaced all three sensors. Oil, air, and control box. all is working now. Good luck.

Is the oil sensor the one on the very bottom of the engine!

As stated above . . . a manual override for the fan will solve this problem.
Why run your quad until it's really hot, thinking the fan will come on when you might have a sensor not working.
The override is simple and cheap to do. Your fan will still come on if the sensors are still good with the override, but why take the chance of motor damage if the sensors are bad?
Will let you run the fan before things get too hot and your oil has the thickness of gasoline. Will let you cool the motor before shutting down after a hot operation.
Have had overrides on all my Honda ATV's . . .
