I have a 2004 400at and yesterday when i was out on the trail the 30amp fuse for the "motor" (that is what the cover called it) blew out. This caused a 5 flash code to start flashing on the display. tracing the fuse on the trail we replaced the fuse with the spare and the coed stoped ontill the bike tryed to shift from 1st to 2nd in auto and blew the fuse again . We repaced the fuse with the spare from anouther honda and tryed shifting it in esp, it blew the fuse again as soon as i tryed going from 1st to 2nd . i rode it in 1st gear back to my trailer and brought it home. i call the dealer this morning and he told me he had never come across this problem before

i would be greatful if you would share that test, the dealer that i talked to called me back after i made my post saying it might be that the shifting motor might have dirt in it. from what i can see pulling some plastic off every thing looks sealed, is that they are taking about the "hondamatic tras"? if so that is a $2000 part. the oil is still clean with no filing (only 5h since changed) so i think it is safe to that it did'nt damage any hard parts.

thax for the manual.

tried running the test as per the text. the bike has started running a coed 12 for the motor drive circuit, i have not pulled the shift drive motor off the trans yet (working afternoon shift with two kids going to the sitters) to inspect it. it started flashing this coed after putting the bike in rev. this caused it to hit a rev limiter at any speed off idle, like the one that kicks in when starting in gear and draging the front brake.
if i do find that the shift motor is sezed can you get that as one unit or is it part of something larger?.
