400 at-shift cable problems-is it strected?

has anybody ever had to change the gear selctor cable due to it being strecthed?i get D+N+but no reverse,if i tap the selector it goes in reverse no problem,if i adjust the cable to get reverse i then get no drive.has anyone come across this before,1664 hrs on clock+oilchanged regularly

That's a heavy cable to stretch just shifting the sub-transmission. .. Something is wrong ..

changed the cable+all is well now,yea its a very h/duty cable to stretch +parts supplier said he hadnt sold 1 before,bike has been in salt water+neglected before i got it!!
