2wd front wheel bearings

I am trying to replace front wheel bearings on a 97 300 fortrax 2wd. I took the tires off and removed both castle nuts then the brake drums were removed. Here is the question are the wheel bearings in the brake drum housing? I can see some type of bearing in there along with a couple of spacers. If this is the wheel bearing how do I get them out beat them out if so, beat them from outside the drum or from inside the drum, also is there a retaining clip I have done a search for this, but I still don't get the picture.
