I rode with a guy that had those on a King Quad but hard to say what they would do in mud, he had a "CLEAN" four wheeler all weekend. I would guess they would gum up quick. I like the bi/tri claws I have, they ride very well on the trail too. The only problem I would say there is would be that they dont have good side grip as in turning when its slick they slide alot.
