Starting this thread to address the shift problems in my brand new 2021 Rubicon 520 brought into the dealership last week looking to hear from them in the next few
Gonna post updates as they come as i've heard I'm not the only one with these issues.
Keep us posted on what you find out. I'm guessing that your machine is a DCT since you are having problems? Can you share any symptoms that you are experiencing with your machine not shifting properly? Thanks.
That's correct, mostly used in automatic depending on the terrain. All of a sudden while riding for long periods of time my screen would display '-' flashing 5 long and two short dashes. Upon trying to either downshift or switch to manual transmission nothing would happen, the code would constantly flash and if the bike was turned off it would not start again given that it thought it was out of gear. Would have to let the bike sit for about half an hour before the N would pop back up (I've tried disconnecting the battery and it doesn't reset the system in this case) A few times on acceleration it would bog down quite a bit after just being started. This machine has left me stranded for a total of about 3 hours in the span of 8 months just waiting for it to kick back into neutral. I've tested the bank angle sensor and it seems to be in place, don't think it could be the TPS either but who knows.
I’m curious as to what shifting problems you are having. I also have a 2021 Rubicon Deluxe but as of now I don’t have any shifting problems. View attachment 49705
The bike displays a code 52 , 5 long and 2 short dashes '-'... doesn't know which gear it is in while driving sometimes and displays the code.. when the bike is turned off while displaying the code it cannot be turned back on for about 20 30 minutes before it displays N again... a real pain in the ass since there is no foot shifter. The dealer I brought it to up North said they will put a foot shifter on, highly.recommend as all my troubles would have been avoided had I had one (given that there isn't a bigger issue, updates to come)
Any updates from the dealer? I am still waiting the arrive of my 2021 Rubicon Deluxe DCT. Getting a little worried now with this issue. Another YouTuber with the same machine said it's happened twice over the last year, but for him, he only has to shut the ignition for a few moments and the issue goes away.
There has been a recall on the software that runs the electronics in the bike. The dealership had to do a full flash reset on the system and they also reinstalled a new neutral switch. Took it out for 6 hours yesterday and she ran like a top. Seems to be fixed.
Hey Greg, just wondering do you have any information on the the recall? Bought my 2021 Rubicon back in March and since then I have had the issue where the bike seems to not know which gear it is in (maybe 3 or 4 times now). I have been lucky enough where I switch the key to the off position, restart the bike, and everything starts working as it is suppose to but if there is a recall I would like to get this fixed correctly.
Hey Brent, unfortunately that's all the information I have.. had a bit of a language barrier at the dealership as it was up in Northern Quebec but from what I gathered service only told me there was a recall on the ecu and he had to do a hard reset on the whole system. They also replaced the neutral switch.
Hope this helps.
P.s. I initially brought this into a dealer in the city and they were absolutely terrible, had no clue what they were doing, pretty sure they did all their repairs out of the Haines manual. Seemed like they only wanted my money so i brought it into a dealer out of town in the boonies and they knew exactly what was wrong right away, no screwing around with people that know what they're doing. Never bringing it back to the city again.
