2015 honda foreman es not shifting neutral blinking

The neutral light is flashing 6 times when keyed on/ running. before this it would make A very quite sound of it trying to shift up but wouldn't, sometimes would sometimes not, sometimes downshift normal. Now it does nothing at all and the neutral light flashes. before the shifting started to act up i went through a river that was fairly deep maybe to the bottom of the muffler. not sure if the water is related, everything i read says ecm fault or ecm connector fault. is it possible water caused this? the bike has 15,000 km and 1 owner which has never once had a shifting related issue until i went through water. if anyone can help that would be great!
