My Foreman 500 tends to stall going up hill or under a heavy load, particularly if in too high of gear at too low of rpms. It seems worse in the cold of winter. It also seems to bog down and not rev right if in neutral and I hit full throttle. I thought it was a carburetor issue, so I bought a non-OEM replacement carb on Amazon. I replaced it but reused the same choke-cable-pin in the new one. It's still acting the same way. It runs fine at idle, low throttle, high rpms or downhill. I have also tried cleaning and oiling the air filter, and replacing the quite clogged spark arrestor, thinking it might have been an airflow issue. I'm stumped. Any suggestions?

Have you looked at the fine screen on the fuel petcock?

Sound like baffle loose in exhaust. Took me over a year to figure that one out. Lost top end and when going up hill baffle slides back cutting down flow. Disconnect muffler and see if fixes problem. Let us know.

I haven't been able to get the muffler off, but I took the spark arrestor out and it does seem to run better. However, I think I smell some unburned fuel in general and get some backfiring slowing down. Is my carb running too rich? Can you adjust the fuel mixture screw without taking the carb out?
