2000 Foreman 450 S Stuck in 4th Gear

The shifter has spring back but it's stuck in 4th gear. I haven't broken the case apart yet to check but several people have had the #17 break the tab off. If someone else has had the same issue maybe you might have an idea of a better way to check?

Well, take the shifter off and see what's going on. If you're lucky, there's so much slop in the bushings you can't move the fork, and it'll cost $23 to fix.
If you're less lucky, you broke the shifter stub, or something inside the top cover, which becomes a "drop the trans" problem.
