Right now the machine won't start, correct? Does it crank but not fire? Do you have spark?
Your first problem may be charging. The easiest way to check the charging output is to put a volt meter on the battery when the machine is running. You should have between 13.5 and 15 volts at idle. Rev the machine to around 4000 rpm and the voltage should stay under 15 volts, if not its overcharging. If your not getting the correct voltage you will need to diagnose to find the faulty part. Just remember to make sure the battery is fully charged before you do anything else or you'll get false readings.
