What was the Honda "fix" for this reacall. I bought the atv from a buddy and I am sure he didn't have the recall done on the bike, the battery goes dead every night after riding. I have heard it was a regulator/rectifer. IF so were are these located. I am not a mechanic and need all the help I can. I really don't want the dealer to "fix" the problem $$$$. Thanks in advance.

How old is the battery? Will it go dead if it is disconnected? or is something on the machine causing it to go dead? Find a manual for the thing ( Hanes or Clymer will do) and they should outline testing the battery and charging system. With out seeing the machine its hard to say what parts need changing. You can troubleshoot, or you can start throwing money at it and hope you get lucky.
Disconnect 1 battery cable take a 12 volt test light put between the cable and the battery post . with the key off you shouldn't see a light if you do you have a short somewhere .
The rectifer is mounted just above the right rear tire on the frame. It is easy to locate and remove. They sell for around 80 bucks at the honda shop. I would have the battery checked out first. A bad cell will show drain.
