It's a good thing you didn't get the extended warranty, because I can guarantee you it wouldn't be covered.
The first time you hit some mud on these bikes you void the warranty on anything mechanical. Sucking in mud to the motor and ruining your piston/rings/cylinder wall, and everything else is not a defect on Honda's part. Warranty only covers things that are defective from the factory.
Like my plastic. I got the camo plastic. 450 miles it began to peel and it has not been mistreated. Honda replaced it without question. While I was disappointed in the fact it peeled so early, I was pleased they would replace it.
