I check my crank vent on a regular base. One time it fell against the exhaust pipe and burnt a hole in it. Good thing I found it before I went riding. I have my crank vent hose looped up over my gas tank. Its about 4' of hose if you lay it out straight.

Same exact thing I did to my 450, burned a large hole in the crank case vent line, and rode around for hours like that. Needless to say, it needed bearings, rings, etc.
