rear wheels don't engage going foreword noticeable on an incline only front tires spin but in reverse the rear wheels seem to engage ( i use a 45% slope for testing )

More than likely (if you’re lucky) the rear axle shaft splines are worn out. Pretty common on these Foreman’s due to left rear wheel seal / bearing failure.

No problem, been there done it got the tee shirt. The splines aren't that deep to begin with. New vs old. It would go in 4x4 but nada in 2x4. It's a decent job to do it all right, but fairly straight forward.

thanks again ! I will check it out . The 01 is full time 4x4 with no option to switch to 2x4 ,does this make any difference with the splines and axle ?
