I'm trying to figure out whether to lift my foreman or not. I just put 27s on it. It turns without rubbing and only sometimes rubs when I start going up hill. Does anyone have any experiences with a negative effect to lifting your quad.

Do it. No issues.

I have 2" Lift with 27" Dirt Devils. It never rubs and has great clearance. Never broken anything either...

only thing ive found is after awile if you blow an outer boot on cv joint an want to replace it, the circlip that holds the joint together gets eatin up in the cup causing the clip not to come off or be usable.

i was wondering the same thing. i have a 98 450 (primarily used for hunting) and i was thinking about a 2in lift and maybe 1in wheel spacers. are there any issues with the angle of the front axles and would the 1in spacers put extra strain on the bearings. My father in law is trying to talk me out of it he says ill be taring up my axles and wearing out my wheel bearings.

if u put 6" of lift and 4"of spacers, then yes, u will destroy ****
lol i kinda figured that. im not going to go that crazy im only thinking of going with 2inches of lift and 1 inch wheel spacers. just to get some more clearance for stumps and logs because host of my deer hunting is done in or near clearcuts
and i have got hung up a time or 2 going in to get a deer. its not a major problem its just a inconvenience plus i thought it may give the old 450 a more aggressive look.

1" spacers aren't bad. Aftermarket wheels basically offset your bike 1"+ side too.

I run a 1.5" lift and 1" spacers on my 350 with no issues.

I have no idea how much lift is on my 300, probably 2" or better, I'm running 1.5" spacers. It has BF750 front shocks and a Rancher 350 rear 512 shock.

ya i know that. im running 26'' now because i got the for a great price only gave 100 bucks for all four but i planned on going a bit bigger next time i have to but tires but that is a going to be a year or two down the road

i also wondered that! thats why i was going to go with the 1 inch wheel spacers. i figured that if i lifted it 2 inches that the wheel spacers would off set the hight difference.

I put the Perfex long travel kit on, it lifts the bike and softens the ride. I threw on a set of High Lifter springs all around to replace the sacked out ones on my 04 S. I had to adjust the front end alignment a hair to get rid of the toe out the extended suspension produced. With the little bit of trail time I have done so far I'd say it was well worth it. As for wearing out axles and joints??? I'm not worried at all since I'm a mellow rider, no mud or thrashing my bike. 2250 miles with zero failures of any kind. my in-law who muds all the time is destroying his with less than 500 miles.

I have 2" HL and no cons so far. I fit 27"s and I don't high center when riding with big bores like I used to.

I bought an 02 foreman 450 that had a two inch lift on it when i got it. I ended up removing the lift. The way this kit was designed was complete junk. If i put the frontend on the jack and spun the wheels it would bind the cv axle. The cv axle would actuality cause the suspension to cycle about 1/4 of an inch. That tells me that the lift was too tall for the cv axle and would cause premature wear. Also the lift would cause the ball joints to max out when the front end was on the jack. Like the ball joints were causing the suspension not to droop anymore. The ball joints should never be the limiting factor for suspension droop. The shocks are supposed stop the suspension droop preventing the ball joints from taking the hit. On the rear i didnt like how it was causing the driveshaft boot to flex...looked like it would cause it to wear prematurely.

This is just my experience on my 02 foreman 450 with an unknown brand lift of about 2". Your atv might be different. Your selected lift kit might be designed much better. My lift kit was junk in my eyes....i would never run something the would cause damage to my atv. It did look a lot tougher lifted but not worth changing out axles, balljoints and tierods all the time. Thats about 400$ worth of parts on my atv...

I am considering building a lift for it though. Prob around 1.5 inch. Definitely would solve all the issues the other on had.

SHAUN.... The best solution that i came up with was to cut and relocate the shock mounts on the A-arms. My plan is to put the atv on jackstands(tires off the ground) , cut off the lower front shock mount, raise the front wheels about an inch, reweld the lower mount where the shock lines up in that position. I was thinking it would work best to inboard the mount about an inch(softer ride and a little more travel) That would give the maximum amount of lift without bottoming out the ball joints. Shocks would limit suspension before balljoints, just like OEM is set up. And no ugly brackets. You might have to build a small spacer under the mount to make things line up properly. And this only works if you have access to a welder and know how to use it.
