2016 Recon

Just picked up a 2016 recon for my youngest son.. It has some new emissions equipment on it. Weird metal tube located on the cylinder head and exhaust shields. My oldest son's 2014 model doesn't have this. My question is when you rev it up and the rpms come back down it makes a weird vibration noise. I had the dealer check it and they said they didn't know what it was, could be normal for the new model and not to worry about it. What do you guys think?

They added some heat shields to the muffler that are just clamped on. Possibly a clamp is a touch loose or it might just be the shields making the noise. I can't say if it's normal or not without hearing it in person.

Apparently it's got secondary air induction and a catalytic converter. This emissions stuff stinks. My 2015 Rubicon is at the dealer now for a "23" code.

They call that an air pump. I'm guessing some emission crap the Gov pushed on a carbureted machine.

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it very much.. Guess I'll just have him ride it for awhile until more of them get out there and see if the noise is "normal"

Probably a couple plugs or pinched/soldered lines and it would be history (kind of like on the older vehicles). I can't say I have researched it at all since we only sell a couple Recons a year. It is something new for this year though from what I have seen. I have one sitting around though so I might take it for a spin tomorrow and see if there are any rattles to it that would be normal.

@jricker I had a chance to go drive this one today and I think you are probably hearing that air pump during deceleration. Is the sound coming from the right front side (underneath and in front the fuel tank area) of the machine when sitting on it? If so that is most likely it and that would be normal. This one is noticeable even when just sitting still and reving the motor a little.
