Your opinions on using Shell Rotella in the Rubicon

I started this thread after i mentioned in another thread i was going to change out my oil in my rubicon with Shell Rotella t6 5w40 oil. It created quite a stir. I've read a few of your comments in my other post, but i'm looking to get more insite into this issue. Is the Rotella safe for the Hondamatic? How many have used it? I don't think it has any harmful additives but i'm not an expert. Please explain if you know. Thanks

I put in 10W40 Amsoil in mine. A little pricey at $ 10 a quart but i shouldnt have to worry for a very long time. It also changes gears from reverse to Drive alot better since switching.

Its all in your preferance..... I dont actually know of anyone who has done a study on them to compair it to gn4. I know amsoil and rotella do their own studies but it would be nice to see if we could get some other oils such as gn4 to do a test on, ya know.

Im sure it would be fine in most hondas if the specs match what your owners manual says BUT dont forget the same oil running through your motor is also running your VERY $$$ hondamatic... I wouldnt chance it myself and no, i dont use honda oil just the same spec'd oil and i change it every 1000hrs.

Been running Rotella synth in my Rubi since I got it 3 years ago plus been putting it in a lot of other bikes too. Zero problems.

Well I changed the oil out with the rotella synthetic and my initial impression is that it changes between drive low and reverse so much easier. No more blipping the throttle to change gears. I don't know what I had in there for oil before though and it was fairly dirty.
