Warn 424 repair tip

I was cleaning up the 424 I got from a buddy the other night, it was sticking in the lock mechanism. Took it apart, lost the detent ball in the process. After experimenting with a couple options, a detent ball from a 3/8s socket extension works perfectly, oiled the lock lightly and it works like new.

Ground the end of the extension down with a bench grinder, it works well now, so it must pretty close in size.

I know this is an old thread, but for a cheaper/easier option, BBs (like for a BB gun) work too. I put two in the 424 I bought that was missing the detent ball(s).
