Question All-Terrain showdown, cast your vote

All Terrain tire...Jack of all trades, aces at none

What would you choose for a 2012 foreman 500

considerations:

weight- loss of power with heavy tires and the 475cc engine
traction
durability to puncture
light snow
light mud
trail, woods, sticks, logs
light sand

maxxis bighorn
kenda bearclaw HTR - new radial with 8 ply
Black Diamond XTR
PIT Bull
GBG Grim Reaper

I have 26 horns and they are a proven performer but i was curious as they have been out a long time. I figure they have been surpassed by someone. I know mud and sand are not great with the horns, dont know how they fare in snow

The Pit Bull's interest me as they are made in USA but heavier than all of the others I believe...

havent heard much on the new HTR bearclaws

I know RUBI likes the black diamond and value his experience

You didn't include swamplites. Obviously those are the best.

Except they wear fast and are worthless in sand, and any mud with sand. But I suppose they are better in regular mud than most of those listed....I wouldn't spend my money on them.

I really like the looks of the Pitbull Growlers, but don't know how they compare in the mud to say, a Mud Bug, Zilla, Outlaw MST etc.

so you think the foreman could spin those no problem?
the 26.5's weigh 30 and 39 pounds front and back

the same BH's weigh 23 and 30 pounds

where does the weight come from??? 8 ply? deeper lugs?

I don't think it would have any trouble. They are a heavier tire, but they aren't real agressive either. The weight comes from both those things, plus the type of rubber compound. Some compounds are heavier than others. Radial tires are usually heavier than bias tires also, Big Horns are also a radial tire though.

30-40lbs isn't bad considering 32.5" Black Mamba's weigh 70lbs each....lol

I would say bighorns just because they last a very long time. But I do like the BD's alot..... another tire to check out for all terrain applications is the sedona ripsaws..... very nice tire, on the order of the black diamonds.
