New all terrain tires
I have Foreman 2015 and need new tires. I'm using it for my soil sampling. So general ride thru the fields, meadow, pastures, ... no mud, race, trails. I 'm pretty happy with OEM tires, sometimes lite sliding sometimes on wet grass.
- radial construction - everywhere I read that they have smoother ride. I have SRA and riding all-day longs (11-12 hours per day, 3-4 days per week, sometimes 3 days at a row).
- bigger, but on stock rims - 26x8R12 on front and 26x10R12 on rear. I don't want 26x9 and 26x11 because evewhere is mentioning that they are for 7 " wide rims and stock rims are 6.5" wide
- light due to power lost, but actually I don't need that power so, it's no so important condition
I have a looked at CST Abuzz, Maxxis Zilla, Maxxis Bighorn 2.0, Carlisle 489, Kenda Bearclaws, SunF Power, ITP Holeshot and Carlisle A.C.T. and my favorits at the moment are Carlisle A.C.T, as they are only radials on that dimensions.
What do you thinks about them? Are they suitable for my ride conditions? Any other tire sugestions?

just to let you know, the tires will ALL fit on your stock wheels, its ONLY a recommendation to use a 7 wide wheel, NOT required, so you can use the 26x9 and 26x11 just fine on stock wheels
the 1/2 inch in wheel difference will NOT be a factor , tire MIGHT sit a tad narrower or a hair taller, but will be such a small difference you will not notice it at all!
so this opens up a lot more tire brands to you!
any of the tires you listed will decent tires for your needs
BUT I will add this
if ride quality is a HUGE factor to you, going to a TALLER heavier tire will effect ride quality SOME/SLIGHTLY, as your asking the bikes suspension to handle more weight in motion
will it be enough to bother you, most likely NO< but just letting you know this ahead of time
is the added 1/2 inch of ground clearance worth the added costs of a slight taller tire(taller tires tend to just cost more money than smaller one's) this is your call
STOCK OEM tires, tend to normally be CHEAP tires on very low ply, to offer a very smooth ride and allow the bike to have the most power it can
when you go to better tires, and taller heavier tires, you can effect again ride quality and power of the atv's motor, due to taller tires alter gearing on atv!
MOST prefer BETTER tires, for the gains they offer and don't mind the CON"S I just mentioned
but call this just information to think about and not meant to deter you from buying a better than stock tire
, its just info so you know what you will end up with!
Just put a set of SunF Power I (AO33) on mine. So far I'm satisfied, I tested in all conditions but really haven't ridden much yet, and not with a full load. $249 for the set, online, hard to beat for the price, but I'm 99% sure they're bias, 6 ply. Similar tread pattern to Maxxis Bighorn and others, copied by a few tire companies.

Are You sure about the relationship tire weight and suspension? I think that You are wrong. Suspension doesn't matter on tire weight. Tires are on the ground/Earth. So, suspension suspense ATV - "weight in motion" is ATV itself (with me) and not tires. (sorry, I don't know have write it in English. I hope You understand what I mean.)
And I think it's exactly the opposite - taller (not heavier) tire mean more rubber/taller sidewall which help suspension.
Regarding ground clearance - I read that stock tires are smaller then 25" - about 24,5" and Carlisle declare that A.C.T 26" have about 26,5". So, I will get about 1" better ground clearance.
And regarding of 26x9 and 26x11 dimension - that tires are wider = heavier ;-) what I don't want.
OK, I will look at lightest radial 25x8 and 25x10 tires.
Unsprung weight is the term for the factor at play, it does affect handling and acceleration on any vehicle.
Have to keep in mind the type of vehicle we're talking about, I've decided radials weren't worth the extra cost to me.
If ride is more important than traction, I would look for a set of 12" street radials.
I have raced enough thing to know this stuff on more than a average persons understanding!
the name of the game to MOST folks that add taller heavier tires is , they like the looks and the GAINS in traction MORE then they care about the loss of some handling and or power(well till power get too much of a loss then they need to spend more money TRYING to get it back LOL)
some folks can live with more power loss and lesser handling than others , its sort of a personal choice and WHERE and HOW you use the atv
NOW can taller tires HELP with ride having more sidewall to help work like a shock
YES,and NO< as most need better side wall control, making many stiffer to hold things in place, thus, not giving you more roll in corners and other ways
so, most times any gains here would NOT be noticed!
HOW Much air you run in tires can help control things, on ANY sized tire, to a POINT, some of the VERY tall heavy duty tires can run on NO air, and still be rather stiff!
so there is NO one THINK that works on ALL tires!
NOW as for HOW tall a OEM tire is, well, word of advice here, ALL tires tend to NOT measure to what the OEM says they do, countless OEM's all LIE about there TRUE tire sizes, if you THINK your getting a 26 inch tall tire, you might find out your NOT< it maybe taller OR shorter, this is WAY too common on ATV tires, IMO< due to they don't have to meet any real DOT like regulation, so they just don't care!, NO one is holding them to the size on the side wall, so they all tend to have cheat one way or another, and even the same OEM will have different sizes in height of there tires from model to model of tire,
AIR pressure and wheel width can effect HOW tall a tire measures too!
the general rule of thumb I think most folks go by is, going UP or down 1 inch, is something you do NOT notice very much, after THIS, IMO< it comes down more to HOW you use the atv, if you work it hard, pull heavy, go up and down steep hills, plow snow you will notice FASTER power loss going taller, and again, comes back to HOW Much HP are you willing to loose to have tires of "X" size!
some folks like looks better than performance!
as NO one I know of has ever , EVER said a HONDA atv has too much HP from day one in stock trim, so, loosing any HP?? your already going down hill ,HAHA!
I have discussed it with colleagues - now I understand relation between tire weight and suspension. You are wright, I was wrong.
So, I searched for lightest tires. Went thru lots of tires (find that just a few are radials). Finally find Maxxis Zilla and Carlisle 489. Then I looked at the prices of tires. Were socked :-O Set of Maxxis Bighorn 3.0 (26x9 and 26x11) or Carlisle A.C.T (26x8 and 26x10) cost about 600€!!
But then I found offer for set of Maxxis Zilla (25x8 and 25x10) for just about 275€ and Carlisle 489 even about 45€ less.
On the other hand I found used (500km, unmounted from new CanAm Outlander) set of Carlisle A.C.T (26x8 and 26x10) for 300€.
Here are the weights I have found:
1) stock Maxxis M975 and M978 = 14,0 and 17,5 lbs
2) Carlisle 489 (25x8 and 25x10) = 14,1 and 16,8 lbs Even lighter then stock!
3) Maxxis Zilla (25x8 and 25x10) = 14,8 and 18,3 lbs Just a little heavier then stock.
4) Carlisle A.C.T (26x8 and 26x10) = 18,0 and 23,9 lbs About 1/3 heavier then stock.
So, now I don't know what to buy:crying: Why they made so lots of tires!! If there will be only one, I will know what to buy :grin2:
stick with at least 6 ply tires, they will be way better at NOT getting you any flats
lighter tires might NOT be 6 ply, but many are
so at least try and stick to brand names and good 6 ply tires
the 489's have been a round a LONG time and a decent tire
Bearclaws bighorns, also decent tires!
and yes there is SURE a lot of different types and brands of tires, way more than I think we need, but also keep in mind when buying tires, price alone is not how to shop, cheap tires many times do NOT last as long, so your not really saving
this tends to be the name of the game in KNOCK OFF of popular branded tires, or clones of the REAL one's
they might LOOK The same, but seldom to they perform the same or last as long, the compound and construction of the tire makes a difference and better built tires tend to cost more,
one way to look at tires is costs per yr, over just price up front
saving a 100 bucks to get 1/3 less life or more, maybe worth ti to some, but NOT to others, as is durability of cheaper tire to a brand name one
as getting a flat in middle of now where is, more of a hassle to some than saving a few bucks,as down time can be wasted $$ and or more dangerous pending where
and this is also why there are so many tires options, and prices to them!
to help maybe make life easier, about ANY brand name 6 ply tire wil be better than the STOCK OEM tires, so, of OEM lasted this long, new brand names will last longer for you and be an up grade!
